FIVE FAVOURITES OF MARCH

This post contains affiliate links
This post contains a gifted product, which is marked with a '*'

Happy April lovelies! I say this every month, but March just flew by so quickly! My five favourites posts seem to be taking a bit more of a different approach. Before I always felt a bit pressured to come with new favourite things I had loved in a month. This year I made the decision to be a smarter and more conscious consumer, which means I try to not buy as much as I would before, as I always felt pressured to talk about new products that I absolutely love. So in the future you will actually see me rediscovering and mentioning more old favourites of mine, which hopefully you will be ok with.

Jill Sander Sun Shake Perfume

February ended with a beautiful bang of spring/summer-like weather, which made me realise I needed to change up my daily perfume again. In winter I always like to go for scents that are a bit heavier. But when the weather starts to get better and the days get lighter, I like to switch my perfume up again to something that’s a bit fresh. That’s why I switched back to summer scents, which included one of my most recent additions: Jil Sander Sun Shake. I had only bought myself the Jil Sander Sun Shake scent at the end of last summer and there weren’t enough summer days left to fall in love with this perfume. When I smelled this back at the end of February, I fell back in love. Jill Sander Sun scent is such an iconic summer perfume, and I feel like this one is like that too. Where the original scent can smell a bit like tanning lotion, this scent has more flowers and fruity notes incorporated into it. These are two of my favourite kind of notes, which makes this scent right up my street. I have used this perfume most days of March and don’t see myself using anything else anytime soon.

H&M camo print jacket

The utility trend seems to be making a big comeback this season, and I am so glad I have been a lover of the utility trend for a little longer. Over the years I have actually accumulated quite a few camo print/khaki jackets that I am more than happy to start getting out again. One of my favourite jackets at the moment is this oversized H&M camo print jacket. I wore this a couple of times during autumn last year and was super excited to get it out again during the beginning of the month here in The Netherlands when the weather was super lovely. I then also brought this jacket with me to Lisbon. I loved wearing this while I was away on my trip to Lisbon. It’s the perfect spring/summer jacket, which is super lightweight and easy to style. It’s made me so excited to wear this more during the upcoming spring and summer months.

Normal People by Sally Rooney

The only ‘new’ discovery of this month is a book, and it's the very hyped Normal People by Sally Rooney. I have not mentioned books in my five favourites posts for a long time, if not ever. But this book had me glued to its pages. I started reading this on the plane to Lisbon and put it aside for the majority of the trip. I only started reading it again last week and I just couldn’t put this book down. I felt so many emotions while reading this book by Sally Rooney. This is one of those books that really did something to me. It’s a very intense book with a rollercoaster of emotions as you follow the characters throughout high school and university. Which is probably why I related to this book so much, as it’s a very real novel that show all the struggles in life such as depression, awkwardness, the importance of communicating in a relationship. The characters and their relationship feels angsty, but was super relatable to me, as I feel like so many people from my generation go through those phases of depression, awkwardness and communication problems in life. This is definitely not a love story, which is a breath of fresh air compared to all the other rosy love novels out there. This is one of those books that had an effect on me and I even cried as I could really relate to some of the emotions and reactions the characters had. Sally Rooney is probably going to be my favourite author for a little while as I just love how she writes. I absolutely loved this book and I cannot wait to start reading Conversations with Friends now.

This Works Sleep Plus Pillow Spray*

A few months ago the lovely girls from This Works had sent over a sleep kit that included the This Works Sleep Plus Pillow Spray*. I am part of their skinfluencer program, which means they send products to me every now and again. If you’re a follower of Style and Sushi for a while now, you would know that I have been a lover of the This Works Sleeping Spray for quite a long time now, as I suffer with sleepless or restless nights and anxiety. I have used this for over 3 years now. I have tried many pillow sprays in the past, but this is the only pillow spray that really helps calm down my nerves as well as to help me sleep through the night.

I started to notice that I found it difficult to fall asleep again in the beginning of March, which is why I started using this spray. It’s great, as the one I’m using now helps you fall asleep as well as say asleep throughout the night. Whenever I use this pillow spray I actually feel refreshed the next morning. I inherited my sleepless nights from my mum, so I gave her one of my old pillow sprays from This Works and she’s hooked too. She used to be awake for most of the night, whereas now she only wakes up once or twice a night, which is such a massive improvement! I’ve always been an advocate of this pillow spray to my friends and family, but now my mum is even talking about this product to her colleagues now too!

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+ Teint

Back in January my skin looked quite good if I may say so myself. So I started thinking back to what product I would use on my skin back then to get the perfect combination of a glow and healthy looking skin. I realised that the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+ teint had cleared up my acne quite a bit while still giving me enough coverage. So at the beginning of March I went back to using this product and I love this for those exact reasons. I own the colour ‘light’ right now, which has now become a bit too light for me now that I am back from my trip to Lisbon, so I immediately ordered the darker shade when I came home upon realising it was too light for me.

  1. Dat camo jack is echt leuk, baal nu wel een beetje dat ik mijn vintage camo jack weg heb gedaan haha. Het blijft een ideaal jasje voor de warmere dagen :).
