Being in university is honestly the best, however if there’s one big difference compared to when I went to high school, it’s my lack of routine. I used to only have classes three times a week and they would usually start at noon or later. Since I only have to finish some work now and don’t have to take classes anymore, I find I spend most of my time at home. I am definitely not a morning person, so when I first had all of these mornings in I mostly slept in and didn’t really know how to become productive again. I didn’t quite know what to do with myself and how I could create a bit of a morning routine for me to kick-start my productivity. I am now two, nearly three months further and have found a bit of a morning routine that I wanted to share with you.
Post something on Instagram
I like to wake up between 7:15 and 7:45 in the morning. I usually wake up at 7:30. I have a wake up light with radio so I would usually just listen to it for a little bit before grabbing my phone and checking my social media. Whenever I unlock my phone there will be a reminder at 7:30 to post a Instagram photo. The first thing I do in the morning is to post a new photo on my Instagram. This is something I usually already have planned out a couple of days in advance so I don’t have to think about editing the photo in the morning with my sleepy head. I would usually write the caption of the photo that morning.
Shower and get dressed
The most important thing I need to do before noon and most likely before 8:30 in the morning is to take a shower and to get dressed. If I don’t to either of these things I will very likely to just lie in my bed all day to watch a sinister murder documentary on Netflix all day. So after I have posted my photo I usually get out of my bed and go to the bathroom to shower and everything. I then get dressed. Once I get dressed I know I will be productive that day and nothing is going to stop me from getting at least some work done.
Eat my breakfast, have a coffee and drink a litre of water
Once I am all showered and dressed, I go downstairs to eat breakfast and have a coffee. I never used to really sit down for breakfast, but I really try to do so nowadays. I really try to take my time before starting my day. Then I also like to drink at least 1 litre of water before noon, just to make sure I am pretty hydrated. I used to suck at drinking water during the winter, but have actually found that I am pretty good with it now. I like to fill my bottle and a mason jar with water and take those upstairs with me to actually start my day.
Write a to-do list
Before I am ready to get to work and have a super productive day, I actually like to write a to do list. I would usually check my bullet journal on what I have planned to finish by certain dates. I then write down what tasks come with those deadlines and create my to-do list for that day. I love writing to-do lists because it’s such a satisfying feeling to be able to tick off something off your list. Any tasks I didn’t get to complete by that day will usually be moved to the next day so I can finish all of my work by the end of an week.
