FIVE FAVOURITES OF MAY

Wow it’s already June. I feel like time is just really flying by this year. But it's probably all got to do with growing older and becoming busier and busier as grown ups.

May has been a very lovely month. It was filled with lots of small happy moments in my life. I already wrote lots about my favourite moments of May in this post, but still wanted to reflect on it a little bit in this post. This month has also been a month of many new fashion and a few beauty discoveries/favourites that I have been dying to share with you.

ASOS Chunky dad trainers

The first thing I have been loving and living in during the month of May, are these ASOS chunky trainers, or as I like to call them: my Chunky dad trainers. These honestly remind me so much of a 90’s dad who is going through a midlife crisis, but I love them. Now these trainers are going to be very controversial so some of you are going to love them, and some are going to hate them.

At first I wasn’t really a fan of the ‘ugly’ trainers, as they are… well ugly. But they somehow grew on me, like all other fashion trends. And nowadays I am constantly wearing these. I personally think they pretty much look good with any outfit and give me a good 5 centimeters of extra length, which is always a bonus as I am really short. I still think these trainers are quite controversial and very much a ‘fashion item’, which means I will probably hate them by this time next year. That’s why, as much as I love the Nike ones, I didn’t invest in those. I wanted to see whether or not I would like and wear these first, before even thinking of spending €200 on a pair of trainers I wasn’t too sure about.

Laura Mercier Mineral Loose Powder

I am always one of those people who, when it get’s warmer, wants to put lets on my face. It feels wrong to cake my face with makeup during the summer. I also get quite oily throughout the day, so I don’t want to be adding lots and lots of glowy products, as it can look as if I got quite sweaty throughout the day. So with these things in the back of my mind I started going through my ‘base’ collection on hot morning in the beginning of May. That’s when I rediscovered this Laura Mercier Mineral Loose powder. I honestly forgot how great it is. It doesn’t break me out and really evens out my skin tone without feeling like I caked my face with lots of base makeup. I also love how this product works with my skin throughout the day. In the morning this is still high coverage for me personally, but throughout the day the coverage gets a bit less and I get this really nice and lovely glow, which I am all for.

You can kind of build up this powder if you like a very high coverage base. I personally don’t think a very high coverage base looks good on me. Throughout the years I have noticed that covering my face up with a high coverage foundation or powder usually ends up with me having bad acne. So I always try to avoid high coverage and I have come to a point in my life where I am ok with some of my scarring from my acne coming through.

Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator*

The lovely girls at Kiehl’s here in the Netherlands sent me this really beautiful Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator* at the beginning of April. I have been testing it ever since and I absolutely love this product. Whenever I feel like going makeup free for a day, I just put this product on, as it gives me a bit of a healthy glow. Other days when I do wear makeup I just use this after my moisturizer before I prime my skin. I feel like this gives me a very healthy looking glow, without me looking like a shiny disco ball.

Lately I have been very tired and felt like I looked a bit dull. It’s probably got to do with how much I have got on my plate right now. This product however really does make me look less dull and makes it look like I am very rested. It makes me look very energized and healthy which is what I am going for with all of this stress because of uni deadlines.

Rika Franca Bag

As I go through my makeup products, rediscovering old favourites, I do the same with my fashion bits and bops. During March and April I had been wearing my Lancaster Mademoiselle bag quite often. In May I kind of got ‘over’ it, and rediscovered my love for starts and this beautiful Rika Franca bag. Nowadays whenever I am off out into town or to do some groceries, I am carrying this bag around with me. I love how sleek and versatile this bag is. But what I love most is the gorgeous star clasp. I am a bigger lover of anything stars, so every now and again, when I rediscover these kinds of items, I am just so happy!

ASOS Farleigh Mom jeans

I already talked to you about this in my SS18 wardrobe essentials and my go-to spring look posts, but I am LOVING mom jeans at the moment. The struggle has been real to find the perfect pair, but I feel like I finally found a pair of mom jeans that look good on me. And ever since I have found my pair, I am wearing these all the time. I particularly enjoy these ASOS mom jeans, as they are very comfortable and breathable to wear. I already own these in this blue/denim colour and a black/grey-ish pair, but am already eyeing up a few other pairs. Oh.. If only I wasn’t a student in so I could buy myself all of the pairs that are currently on my ASOS wishlist.
