MY CURRENT GO-TO SPRING LOOK

This post contains affiliate links

Spring outfits have really been on my mind this past week. I can’t wait to wear outfits like this one again. The first few days of May have been an actual challenge to survive as it felt like it was autumn or winter with only 8 to 12 degree Celsius weather. It’s not something I am used to in May, as we have had so many gorgeous months in the years before this. Anyway, I decided to brave the weather anyway and tried to shoot an outfit I cannot stop wearing as soon as the weather gets above 15 degrees Celsius weather. The weather really seems to be looking up in the upcoming couple of days so I really hope I can do some more outside shooting soon to share some more spring looks.

My current go-to spring look is definitely different than last year’s go-to spring look. This year’s look actually has a bit of colour incorporated into the mix, which is new for me. Over the past few months I have become obsessed with neutral tones, like I already mentioned in my SS2019 wardrobe essentials post, and so it comes as no surprise that the first outfit I am sharing on here is with a pair of brown trousers.

Neutral trousers

Is brown a neutral? I am not sure, I haven’t really studied the colour palette enough and am not a fashion student to answer this with confidence. Anyway, I classify my brown trousers as a neutral pair of trousers, because if I am not wearing these brown trousers, I will be wearing another pair of cream paper bag waist trousers. The ones I am thinking of are mentioned in this post. Neutrals are so big at the moment but I have always been a fan of neutrals. When I was younger I was always a bit scared to wear neutrals as bottoms as they aren’t all too flattering if your legs are larger and bumpier than others. It all comes down to material though, and it turns out that if I wear the right type of underwear – think seamless underwear – underneath I am completely good to go. Another part of this also has to do with me accepting my body, I know my legs are a bit larger than other people’s legs and I could cry about it and some days I do. Like Jess from Copper Garden once said to me: every insecurity about yourself is a new reason to love yourself.

A leather jacket

With that great little sentence that Jess told me also comes the revival of my leather jacket. These past few years I felt a bit insecure about my bum being on show in my leather jacket as it doesn’t really cover it. I decided it was time for me to get over the size of my bum as having a bigger one comes with my DNA. My mum, some of her sisters and my cousin all have a bum and so do I. I can’t get rid of it and can only embrace it, so I started wearing my leather jacket again. Nowadays I can’t seem to stop wearing it as it’s such a great and classic item. As you might have noticed this one is different than the fake leather jacket I mentioned in my SS2019 wardrobe essentials. I bought this one four years ago from Mango and have fallen completely back in love with it again.

Graphic tees

Graphic tees are such a must inside of my wardrobe. I purposely didn’t mention graphic tees in my SS2019 wardrobe essentials post as it graphic tees have made so many appearances in the posts before this years post. I mentioned them in my SS2016, SS2017 and SS2018 posts, so you know they will be a staple again in my wardrobe this year. This one I am wearing is from & Other Stories and I absolutely love this one. The purchase of this tee was totally inspired by Olivia from Nude On Broad Street. I have worn this tee lots these past couple of days and I can’t wait to get some more of my graphic tees out again to share on here!
