Happy December guys! Omg, I can’t believe one of my favourite months of the year is already here. This year is literally flying by in the blink of an eye. My first couple of days of December were quite stressful, just like most of November was to me. However, I handed in a big assignment now and am ready to get into the proper festive mood. I started my Chritmas prep quite early this year, as I knew I would be busy during December, and since everyone is posting Christmas gift guides right now, I thought it would be fun to write a blog post that is a bit different instead. In today’s post I thought it would be fun to share a couple of tips to plan your Christmas while on a uni budget.

Write a festive to do list

I love lists. Especially if they are Christmas related. Usually when Christmas rolls around we are all super busy and a bit stressed with uni deadlines or work deadlines and a couple of uni/work related parties. In the blurr of all these things, you can really easily forget all the things you have to do in the run up of Christmas. That’s why I love writing to do lists for the holidays. So mine would include buying a tree, visit a Christmas market, doing festive activities with friends while I also have to shop for gifts and wrap them. That’s a lot to remember just from the top of my head besides all the things I have to remember for my uni deadlines. This is when the to do list comes in very handy. And it’s more fun to tick all of these festive activities off your to do list during December.

Write down all the fun activities

This year I was afraid that I wasn’t going to be feeling festive, as I am so super busy up until the 18th of December. I felt like such a Grinch in November because of it, so I decided to look up all the fun activities there are to do in and around my hometown. This made me really look forward to actually go to a couple of these things. I then shared them with lots of my friends and I made a couple of plans for fun holiday related activities in the month of December. This way you know you’re going to be feeling super festive.

A list of Christmas films

Okay I don’t know if you follow me on Instagram, but I have been obsessively watching cheesy Christmas films since the beginning of December. I know I am super busy, but I like to take my evenings off to really have some down time. There are so many great films to watch during the holiday season, that I just think we all should have a written list or a list on our phones with all the best Christmas films. It’s really the only the best way to get you into that Christmas spirit.

Create a gift list

If you have not started writing down a gift list for everyone you’re buying gifts for this year, then I highly recommend writing it as soon as you have finished reading this post. Creating a gift list for everyone you are buying gifts for makes it SO much easier to actually do your gift shopping. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s to buy Christmas presents in town when it’s super busy. Then you usually also don’t find anything you like for the people you want to buy. By creating a gift list in advance, you can really enjoy all the festivities and the hustle and bustle of Christmas in town without feeling overwhelmed, annoyed or any other kind of negativity while shopping. Which basically sounds like a dream shopping trip to me.

Set a budget

But the most important thing you have to do when you start planning for Christmas is to set a budget. I tend to get carried away with all the Christmas festivities and usually end up spending A LOT of money. Now this is not a problem per se, but knowing I also have to pay my university tuition and fees at the end of month, I know I had to take things a bit slow this month. As you can see I have quite a few festive things lined up, as well as wanting to buy gifts for everyone. This is the reason why budgeting is so important! By setting that you can prevent yourself from spending WAY too much money in December, so you still have money at the end of the month to spend on all the sale things or even just to pay your uni tuitions and fees like I have to haha!
