WHAT I'M GRATEFUL FOR IN 2018

Happy Friday. It's been a little while since I last posted, mainly due to all the Christmas festivities. I have been so out of it. This week has just felt like one big and long weekend and where I got to spend so much time for my family. I personally had the best Christmas and loved spending time with my whole family. That got me super inspired to write this post. I usually just write down the things I am grateful for in my bullet journal, as they really make me appreciate and love the small little things in life. And even though I try to share my gratitude all year long, I thought it woud be extra fun to reflect on what I have been grateful for in 2018.

My family

I am so unbelievably grateful for my family. I can't do anything without them. I am super grateful for my cousins, who I am so close with that I consider them as some of my closest friends. However I am especially grateful for my parents and my brother. They always do so much for me and are always here to pick me up, to talk to and to make me feel better about everything.

My friends

My friends have really been my rocks this year. I always love spending time with my friends, but I feel like this last year I have really been able to get even closer to all of my friends. They all know who they are, and they also know that they are so special to me. I love them all so much and they are always here to give me the best advice and help me take photos for the blog or Instagram. I am so grateful for them and how much they inspire me to always become a better version of myself.

Family traditions

Christmas this year was amazing. I got to spend a lot of time with family and we went out for a lovely Christmas dinner with the whole family. This made me realise how much I love our little family traditions that we have. We are one of those families that will use any occasion to get together to celebrate anything or anyone. Which made me realise that I am so grateful to have a family that loves each other and likes getting together for a meal. I love our family traditions. The big and the small ones. The ones where we get together with the whole family and spend way too long in restaurants, but also the family traditions I have with my parents and my brother, such as our Sunday morning breakfasts or our evening chats over cups of coffee and tea.

Learning how to cook family recipes from my mum

Being a family that loves coming together, we also love to eat and cook Indonesian food together. I think I have mentioned this a couple of times before on here, but the family on my mum's side is partly Indonesian. I have always loved cooking, but this past year I have gotten a particular interest in cooking Indonesian food. My aunt already wrote down all of the family recipes that belonged to my grandma to share with all the kids of the family. Now besides those recipes, I also love learning how to cook by doing so with my mum. It's such a fun way to spend time and bond over something we both love.

Challenges in life that help me grow as a person

This year has been particularly challenging for my mental health. This is probably the reason why I wrote so many posts about mental health on the blog this year. Anyway, as much as hurdles in life give me anxiety and usually make it seem as if there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Thankfully I always seem to make it through, mainly due to my amazing friends and family and their continuous support. Due to their support during these challenges I am growing as a person and becoming the adult whom I want to become.

Breathing exercises

Like I said, this year has been quite a challenge for me as I am slowly saying goodbye to my life as a student and am becoming a proper grown up with responsibilities and everything. Everything can leave me feeling super overwhelmed, so this year I decided I wanted to do something about it. Which is when I discovered breathing exercises. I had not really known before that just by some simple breathing exercises it can easily die down. So this year I am super grateful for discovering these breathing exercises that not only help me control my anxiety, it also helps me fall asleep at night.

My blog and your continuous support

Finally I am super grateful for my blog and for your continuous support on here. Because this year was quite overwhelming, I feel like my blog has not been my top priority this year. This is something that always annoys me as I love working on my blog so much. Even though I did not get to post as much as I wanted to on my blog this year, you all always supported me and the blog posts I write on this little platform on the internet. For that I am super grateful and it definitely needed to be said before the year ends.
