Weekends are such a great time to catch up with friends or family, go on long, cold but meaningful walks or to clear your head from all of the things that happened in the last week. I am fortunate enough to live 10 minutes away from the beach, so I usually go and take a walk in the dunes of my hometown. Whenever I go and walk in the dunes, something seems to happen, because you're out in nature and you're just really either on your own or with friends, your mind just gets really clear.

I took these photos absolutely ages ago with my friend. I never got around to posting them as the month of December just flew by with all the craziness that comes with Christmas. Back when I took these photos my friend and I had a morning coffee and afterwards went for a nice walk near the beach, as you can see. There's lots of wildlife in the dunes and that just makes it the perfect 'getaway' situation from the busy city that's just 10 minutes away.

It's always these moments, when you and the ones your are with are both kind of hiking the sand dunes. You're pretty much on your own and no one else can really listen in on these moments. It's those moments, where I feel comfortable to really talk about things that bother me to my friends.

But whenever I feel really down, I just go on walks on my own. I have had various moments last year and the year before that, where I have done this same kind of hiking on my own, and just felt so much more calm, relaxed and mostly more in control of life again afterwards.

These past few weeks have been quite overwhelming and I just really feel like going for a hike again. The weather today wasn't that great and I fell and had an accident with my scooter on Friday. I have a bruised, swollen knee as well as a bruised and swollen heel, so walking really isn't an option today just yet. So I am just waiting for the perfect moment to take that hike that I am longing for, to just get every single thing set straight again and to feel 'more in control of life' again.
