FIVE FAVOURITES OF SEPTEMBER

It feels weird to write a post about all the things I have loved during September. We’re only half way through October, but September and beginning university at the beginning of September already feels like an absolute lifetime ago. I don’t what it is about this year but it really is just flying by within the blink of an eye, isn’t it? I always feel like the first few months of the year tend to go a bit slower and then after summer the months just fly by. Before we know it it’s Christmas again! But before I get to excited about all things Christmas, I am going to blog about five things I have loved using/wearing during the month of September.

Stradivarius Leopard print bag

The first thing I loved during September was this gorgeous Stradivarius leopard print bag. Animal prints are everywhere this season and I felt like I needed to include some sort of an animal print to my wardrobe. So during August I started my quest to find something animal print to add to my A/W wardrobe and ended up buying this cute bag from Stradivarius. I loved it because it wasn’t too animal print-y. One half has leopard print on it and the other half has leather on it. This meant it wasn’t too loud for me as I am still a bit of a basic and I would rather not wear too many colours kinda gal. I am pretty sure this has been my bag of choice for most of September and I have continued to wear this bag for first couple weeks of October.

I think this is the perfect bag for autumn for me. Not too loud for me, but still kind of on trend with the leopard print. This bag will definitely last me for a couple of seasons so I am so happy I decided to go with the whole animal print bag.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana White perfume

Now that we’re coming into autumn, I noticed that I started wearing a few ‘heavier’ fragrances than I would wear when it’s summer. Now that I have come into autumn I started wearing one of my favourite fragrances again, it’s the Elizabeth and James Nirvana white perfume. I am pretty sure it has some flower-y hints in there, but I am not going to even try to explain what it smells like, because I definitely suck at that.

Back when I got this, this perfume was only available to buy in the US so I asked my friend who went on holiday to L.A. about a year ago if she could bring me this scent. She did and I love her to death for that (and many other reasons). Thankfully it’s now much easier to get your hands on. They are now being sold in the UK, which is a lot closer to home than the US. I am pretty sure they sell these at Selfridges or Harrods nowadays, so I am already planning a little trip to the UK so I can repurchase this again. The thought of not having this scent on or around me is already giving me a little panic.

Navy Corduroy blazer

Just like animal print, corduroy is also everywhere now. Corduroy always makes it’s little comeback into fashion during the autumn/winter season. Even before I was really aware of trends and fashion I always had this association of corduroy worn in autumn/winter.

Anyway, in August I once again felt like I should buy myself some sort of corduroy jacket or blazer. I ordered a few things online and ended up hating all the things I picked up. Somewhere in the beginning of September I kind started to lose hope in finding a corduroy jacket that I just stopped looking. One morning I was scrolling through my instagram and everyone was wearing this gorgeous rusty/burnt orange corduroy from Primark and I loved it. That same day I went into town to go to Primark to find it and they ended up not having that colour. I did stumble upon this navy colour though, which to be fair is much more of a ‘Laura colour’. I was beyond excited when it also looked cute one so it came straight home with me. I have worn it at least once a week ever since I got it, which truly says something about how much I like this beautiful blazer!

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Crème Désaltérante

In September my skin became all of a sudden felt really dry. It’s probably because we have had such a glorious summer with 30-degree weather and then went to 10-degree weather. My skin could not handle this intense decrease of temperature and decided to throw a little tantrum. I ended up having lots of dry patches from a few left over acne scars. That’s why I ended up using this beautiful Clarins Hydra-Essentiel cream again.

This cream is such a miracle in a jar if you have dry skin. I normally don’t have any dry skin whatsoever. I am actually quite oily, but whenever I put this on my skin feels extremely moisturised and not as if it could crack if I smile once. I have tried many other ‘dry skin’ creams, but they usually end up with me having a breakout because the cream itself is too heavy. This Clarins cream is specifically made to hydrate dehydrated skin. Which always makes me think that my skin might just be extremely dehydrated. I’m not even sure how to fix that because apparently drinking 3 bottles of water does not help ‘hydrate your face’. The only thing that helps my face calm down a bit is this cream. I love using it and have repurchased it three times already. It might not be the cheapest cream but it’s worth every penny to me if it helps hydrate my skin and makes me feel as if I have my acne a bit more under control.

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

Now my skin getting a bit drier probably could have gotten something to do with me using the Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant. I find that if I use this every single day my cystic acne tends to get a bit better. I have used the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant in combination with the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA gel, which I mentioned in last month five favourites, and the Clarins Hydra-Essentiel cream and I am pretty sure that those three products combined really helped me get my cystic acne a bit more under control.

Due to many stressful days and deadlines in October I have already been slacking with my skincare routine. I just wash my face nowadays and then put on a lighter moisturizer, but I am already noticing such a difference. I break out a lot more, so I am definitely going to go back to using the Paula’s Choice products as well as the Clarins moisturizer to see if my skin gets any better.
