5 DAYS OF SUMMER OUTFITS

This post contains affiliate links

It has been a while since I last shared proper outfit shots of me. Last week was absolutely gorgeous, the weather was stunning and we had a heat wave. This obviously meant I didn’t or couldn’t really wear my go-to look for Dutch summers, so instead I wore lots of dresses, skirts and shorts instead. I thought it would be fun to share some more real-life shots mirror shots instead of the usual outfit posts. These outfits are actual outfits I wore last week from Tuesday until Saturday.

Tuesday

Tuesday was the first morning I woke up and felt like I was already in holiday heat. It was the first super warm day that day and I knew I needed to wear something that was super breezy and just cooling to wear. I chose to wear this ASOS dress, which I always get so many compliments on whenever I wear it. When I first bought this I wasn’t too sure if it would look good on me, but I actually love to wear it know, especially when it’s warm. I had an appointment at the hairdressers that day to cut a little bit of the ends of my hair off, went to the cinema with my friend to get a breathe of cool air and lastly went to dinner with two of my friends. This outfit was not only perfectly breezy and easy to wear, I also love that I was able to hide my food baby in it.

Wednesday

Wednesday was the second heat wave morning. I hadn’t had the best night’s sleep that day, as it really gets super hot in my room as I sleep on the top floor in our house. I was already sweating when I came out the shower, so I knew I needed to wear something linen. This is an H&M linen dress I have recently bought. It was perfect as linen is so good to wear in heat wave kind of weather as it’s loose, breathable and comfortable to wear. That day my brain turned to mush, so I decided to not be too hard on myself for not doing as much work as I normally would. Instead I read the newspaper that morning in the shade and went into town with my friend to get her some holiday bits and bops. I even popped into Primark and bought myself a skirt…

Thursday

And that skirt is this skirt! I absolutely fell in love with this skirt when I saw it hanging in store. However, it definitely isn’t made of natural fibres, so it is a bit of a sweaty material. I just loved this print and colour so much that I picked it up anyway. So when I woke up on Thursday I obviously thought I had to immediately wear it. I styled it with a super easy white H&M linen tee to give me still some sort of breeze on my top area. The skirt is super flowy, so even though it’s usually a fabric I would avoid, it still worked for me to wear. This day I actually took the day off because once again my brain turned to mush and nothing sensible came out of my mouth due to slight sleep deprivation because of how warm it was in my room. I took the day off, read my book in the shade in my garden, drank lots of water and ate way too much ice cream.

Friday

On Friday I chose comfort above everything. I decided to wear a pair of white denim shorts I recently bought at H&M with a H&M khaki linen tee. That day was one of the last really heatwave-warm days that the news had predicted, so since I would spend most of my day in and around the house anyway, I chose to wear these super comfortable shorts and this chilled tee. By now I was over the 35-degree weather, as we’re really not used to these kind of temperatures at 9 in the morning. So I actually spend most of my morning lying on the sofa trying to catch some sleep I had lost over the last couple of days. Obviously that didn’t work, so instead I watched Say Yes To The Dress and Catfish on telly that morning. After lunch I decided to run some quick errands and afterwards I sat in the shade, did some crosswords, made dinner for my parents and me and called it a day.

Saturday

I have to be completely honest with you that this isn’t the outfit I originally wore on Saturday morning. Friday evening we finally had some cooler weather and rain. Obviously I thought then on Saturday it would be colder again, so at first I wore a pair of paper bag waist trousers with this tee. Boy that was a mistake… On Saturday I had a little catch up in town with my friend who I hadn’t seen in absolute ages and afterwards ran into my brother while doing some errands in town. The weather was so warm and humid, that I raced home afterwards and immediately changed into a pair of breezy linen shorts from H&M. I styled it with this & Other Stories tee, which I bought a couple months ago. The rest of the day I once again spent in the garden with my parents just chatting and reading.
