SPRING SUMMER 2018 WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

This post is so long overdue. I had been meaning to write this post for Friday, but I ended up getting ill and it resulted in me sleeping throughout most of the weekend. The season is changing and the weather really has been so beautiful lately! This got me so excited for springy and summery clothes. With the seasons changing, I went looking for a few new wardrobe essentials in my wardrobe for the upcoming two seasons. In February I already told you how much I was struggling to find SS18 clothes that I actually like for this season. It has taken me a while to figure out what clothes I would love to wear, and three months later I feel like I finally found all the items I will love and waer so much during the upcoming seasons.

Blazers

Blazers are back and I am here for this trend. It doesn’t matter what colour, print or fit blazers are, I just love wearing them! They are such a versatile item that can help spice an outfit up or dress an outfit down. They are easy to throw on over a tee when you’re off to work or can be worn as a more put together outfit if you’re off to uni. It doesn’t really matter where you’re off to, but you know you’re doing things right if you’re wearing a blazer. You’re never really underdressed or overdressed when you put on a blazer, unless you’re off to bed or something like that. That would be quite inappropriate. I already own an oversized white blazer, a gorgeous structured black blazer and my beloved Prince of Wales-check print blazer.

Mom jeans

Call me late to the party, whatever, but mom jeans or straight leg jeans are such a must in your wardrobe this season. I have been finding it so hard to find a pair of mom jeans that fit me and also look good on me. I ended up finding my perfect pair at ASOS, since they do the petite sizes. Right now I have a denim pair and a black pair of mom jeans, but another colour that I think would look amazing, is a pair of white mom jeans!

Wrap dresses

I am not a dresses kinda gal, but whenever summer rolls around I always try to incorporate a few dresses into my wardrobe. Wrap dresses are something that is new into my wardrobe. I already tried to incorporate these into my life last summer, with this wrap dressand this wrap dress. This year however I am dying to get myself a few more midi style wrap dresses. I already found a gorgeous dotted wrap dress at H&M, but am definitely on the hunt for some more of these cute dresses.

Shirt dresses

I read somewhere that there was the revival era of the shirt dress. However, I have been wearing shirt dresses for a good two to three summers now. I think they are such a classic item in your wardrobe. They are easy to throw on when it’s hot, but they also make you look very sophisticated. It’s quite hard to find ones I like now, as most high street stores sell mostly wrap dresses, but I have spotted a few very versatile shirt dresses at H&M and ASOS. I already own a few shorter shirt dresses, so my main goal before I go away on holiday, is to also buy myself a midi shirt dress, as I think that one can look so chic on holiday when you’re off to dinner in the evening, without having to put too much effort into it all.

Shirts

Throughout the spring season I have noticed that I am gravitating more towards wearing shirts again. In winter I would much likely wear jumpers, whereas these season I feel l need to wear all the shirts I own. Shirts are so easy to throw on with a pair of jeans or a pair of smart trousers. They can look sophisticated or laid back, there’s the classic shirt, but lots of high street stores also do the cuter style shirts with lace details, patterns and I am especially loving the ‘granddad neck’ style of shirts.

Pretty blouses/tops

Another thing I am loving and still trying to find are pretty blouses or tops. With pretty blouses and tops, I mean tops that have really pretty details, such as lace details or tops with some sort of broderie or eyelet detail incorporated into the top. I already have this gorgeous lace top that I love to dress up in, but I am still on the hunt for another few of these ‘pretty’ blouses.

Utility jacket/shacket

This season I am loving my utility jacket and khaki jackets again. Every spring summer season I seem to be getting my utility jacket/shackets out again to spice up an outfit a bit. Camo jackets seem to be a thing again, but I especially love the khaki shackets as they can work as a shirt as well as a jacket!

Denim jackets

Just as obsessed as I am with utility or khaki shackets this time of year, I am also obsessed with denim jackets. I wear mine pretty much every day now. They are such an easy item to style and make your outfit look so effortless. Denim jackets are such a wardrobe staple that make your outfit instantly look good on a warm, summery day!

Tees with details

I am a big lover of tees, and I have been having a big moment with tees with details on there. This basically means I love wearing graphic tees. So I love buying my tees at H&M, Boohoo, Zara and Na-kd. Before I used to love band tees or movie tees, but nowadays I love myself a good slogan tee.

Boyfriend jeans

In my search to finding the perfect pair of mom jeans, I also stumbled upon boyfriend jeans again. I forgot how incredibly comfortable boyfriend jeans are and how effortless they look on. I find that H&M do the best pairs of boyfriend jeans. They can be a bit too long for me, but I just roll these jeans up at the bottoms. This gives it a bit more of a casual, laidback style, which I absolutely love. Right now I am really enjoying pairing a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans with a more sophisticated top. So right now I have been wearing my boyfriend jeans with lots of shirts, but I can imagine that it will look gorgeous with a really pretty, white broderie top.

    1. The star print shirt dress is an older one that I got on Boohoo last year. I haven't done a post on shirt dresses yet, but I definitely will put one up soon! :)

  3. Leuk en handig artikel :)! Een groot deel van jouw essentials zijn ook de mijne haha. Mijn favorieten zijn mom jeans en shackets. Hoewel ik 'normale' blouses ook steeds leuker en fijner vind om te dragen.
