Happy new week! In today’s blog post I felt like sharing a what I eat in a day post with you today. I am always trying my best to keep a healthy eating pattern, and I really have noticed that when I write down what I eat, I am much more aware of all the things I actually eat throughout the day.
I definitely notice that once I start writing down, I am more stimulated to also eat healthy too. Especially now that summer is coming up soon. I mean, I never really am one of those people that train really hard to get my summer body in shape. I am just not motivated enough to do so at this moment with everything that I have going on lately. I do notice that eating healthy has some sort of influence over how I feel myself. I feel like I have a lot more energy, I feel better. A plus with that is that I also tend to loose a bit of weight as well.
So instead of just writing my food diary down in an actual notebook, today I thought it would be fun to share it with you on my blog. I am in no way a healthy food expert, but I am very passionate about food and eating healthy. This post is not a “what you should eat when you want to be healthy” kind of post, but more like what I eat whenever I am trying to be a bit healthier.
Breakfast
For breakfast I usually have a smoothie. Whenever I feel lazy or am in a rush for my internship in the morning, I get myself a frozen smoothie box that you just buy in the supermarket and blend that. However this morning I actually had a bit more time on my hands, so I had a bowl of Greek yoghurt, with honey, kiwi, dried apricots and some muesli. Such a yummy breakfast, that really made me want to put a lot more effort into eating Greek yoghurt for breakfast more often.
First snack
Lunch
For lunch I really try to have a bit of variety in my meals. I am just not really that inspired whenever I am interning, so this lunch is very realistic. I usually eat crackers with hummus, chicken breast and sliced cucumber. Today’s lunch looked “a little” different than others. I say a little, but it’s actually no different than normal. I went for Ryvita rye bread crackers with some turkey, a small avocado and some cucumber. To spice it up a bit more, I added some chilli flakes. As I had the day off this day, I actually had a coffee with my lunch, but I usually drink some water with my lunch. Exciting … I know…
So after lunch I usually do some more work at my internship and then start feeling a bit sleepy at around 2:30 in the afternoon. That’s when I usually get myself either a cappuccino or a latte. Because I had coffee with my lunch this day, that was not necessary.
Second snack
At around 4-ish I am starting to feel a bit peckish again. That’s when I usually get my rice cakes out with hummus. If I feel like I want to have something a bit more refreshing, I usually eat a few carrots on its own or with some hummus on the side. So that’s basically my second snack of the day. That fills me up until dinner.
Dinner
My parents and I usually have dinner roughly around seven o’clock. This evening I was home alone, so I had to cook myself dinner. Because I had the day off, I had some time to do some meal prep and felt like I had actually time to think about what I wanted to eat. So I went for some spaghetti, with some tuna and some black olives, fresh red pepper, onion and garlic. Of course you can't have pasta without some parmesan cheese, so I added that too. I poured the tiniest amount of chili olive oil over all of my pasta to finish it and that's it. It definitely does not look that appetizing, but it was so yummy!
That’s the last thing I usually eat during the day. As I eat at seven, and usually try to go to bed at around 10, I don’t really get peckish anymore until the next morning. Like I said earlier on, I am in no way a health expert, but I find that eating around 5 times a day works best for me right now.
Looks like a yummy day, filled with interesting snacks :)
