I am back with my skincare routine post. Earlier this week I wrote a post about my morning skincare routine (read all about it here). I also wanted to share my evening acne skincare routine with you. Like I said before, my skincare routine has really been all about trials and errors and I feel like I am finally getting my acne under control and the breakouts have really been limited throughout the time.
The first thing I do whenever I start my evening skincare routine is I take my contacts out and start removing my eyeliner. I use a very waterproof eyeliner by MAC Cosmetics. To get this eyeliner (and my mascara) off, I use the Garnier Express 2in1 Waterproof Makeup remover. This is a waterproof makeup remover that I tend to go for whenever I run out of my old ones. It's not that I particularly love it, but it gets the job done and I don't get an allergic reaction from this so I like to use it.
Then I move on to the sink and start getting all of the dirt and makeup from the day off. To remove all of the dirt and makeup, first I use the The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter. Now despite me having acne prone, oily skin, I always use a cleansing balm to get all of the makeup off. I have used a few other cleansing balms/butters in the past, but they always used to break me out.
This cleansing butter by The Body Shop is an amazing, soothing balm. It removes all of the makeup and dirt of the day, does not break me out and leaves my skin feeling fresh. I put this onto my dry skin, massage it into my skin and then remove it with a lukewarm face cloth.
I always double cleanse, so after I cleansed my skin with the The Body Shop cleansing butter, I move on to my Kiehl's Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser. This is a very gentle cleanser, that leaves my skin feeling clean, without it having a drying effect or anything like that. I already talked you through to why I love this cleanser so much in this post, so I won't be going into full details in this blog post. I use this cleanser on my damp face, massage it into my skin and remove it with a lukewarm facial cloth.
Then I pat my face dry with a towel and move on to the creams. I use the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + at night. I use about a pea sized bit of cream on my face. So I basically use this La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + cream twice a day to make sure my acne scars are heeling, as well as preventing me from having anymore massive breakouts.
In the morning I use the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Fluide. In the evenings I actually use the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Overnight. This basically is the night time version of the Ultra Fluide cream. However, sensitive skin needs to have a little bit more care during the night. This night cream helps soothe your skin. It also helps with hydration and it helps repair your skin overnight. I love using this cream because it does not give me a 'tight' feeling in the morning. It is just enough hydration for me, which is perfect.
Once I finished putting on all of my night creams, I usually would look at my skin and whenever I see a pimple coming up or have a pimple on my face, I use some sort of pimple cream. However, I don't want any harsh products on my pimples anymore, so instead I use a more natural product that is not as harsh as any other pimple targets. The one I like using is the Aesop Control blemish control gel. This does not fight acne, but it does not dry out my skin, when it does help me keep my pimples in control.
Then I go to bed and try to have at least seven to eight hours of sleep. Which is something that also really helped clear my acne and pimples. Having routines really is the key to having better skin. So with a minimal skincare routine, a monthly visit to see my beautician and a normal sleeping pattern I am slowly but surely fighting my acne.
Acne can be something that really bothers anyone, it sure did bother me. It made me feel insecure and would have never posted a close up from my skin if I was not feeling so much better about it. I really hope that you find these tips helpful and this might work for you. If not don't give up yet, you will find a solution soon.
If you would like to read a "Five steps to clearer skin" post or something like that, please do let me know. I would love to help you out as much as possible when it comes to helping you with your acne. I always thought it was so hard to find actual, helpful information about acne on the internet, so I hope this really helps.
nice routine!

VerwijderenThat body shop balm is a favorite of mine. I'm always looking for. A gentle cleanser that is non foaming so might need to look at the Kielhs cleanser you mentioned !
