FIVE FAVOURITES OF FEBRUARY

This post contains affiliate links. Please read my full disclaimer here.

And just like that it’s March. Happy March! This month has got to be one of my favourite months of the year as you can really notice that everything is slowly coming back to life again. The sun is out longer and you can finally feel the heat of the sun on your face again when you’re out and about. We have not had many sunny days in February sadly; we pretty much had a storm every week in February. It actually left me feeling pretty disappointed, so I am far more excited for spring to come around now. I can not wait to peel off the many layers of clothes I have worn these past months and look forward to experimenting with lighter base makeup in spring.

& Other Stories green turtle neck jumper

Let’s start my five favourites off with an item that is slightly different for me, because it contains colour! The & Other Stories green turtle neck has been a favourite of mine and it's something colourful! It’s quite the surprise, isn’t it? I don’t wear colour that much, and if I do, I tend to stick to the more neutral colours such as beige and khakis. I already own this & Other Stories jumper in a camel colour, which made an appearance in my Five Favourites of December post. Back when I bought that jumper I already had my eye on this one as well, but was not certain whether I would wear it often or not. So I kept it out of my shopping basket for a little while. My mind kept going back to this green turtle neck jumper from & Other Stories, so it felt right to buy it after still lusting after it two months later. And obviously I also fell madly in love with this jumper and have worn it at least once, twice, if not three times a week since I bought it. I think this jumper will be one of those pieces I can easily wear into spring, as it’s a lovely colour for spring.

Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying and Plumping Daily Booster

In January I started an Accutane prescription. Have you heard about it? Because I feel like I have spoken about me being on it enough. I’m kidding. I think I have spoken about it on both my blog and Instagram lots these past couple of weeks. Because I am on Accutane I need to make sure I keep my skin super moisturised as Accutane sucks out all oil on and inside your body. The Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying and Plumping Daily Booster is basically a serum. It gives my skin this really hydrating boost and makes my skin look like it’s hydrated even though my skin is parched. This serum contains hyaluronic acid and is supposed to help keep your skin barrier hydrated and protected.

Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow tinted moisturiser

While on Accutane I have discovered that it’s an actual nightmare to wear makeup. While I started everything looked dry, flakey and just generally horrible. I basically couldn’t put any of the BB or CC creams I already own on anymore, as they immediately dried out and emphasized the flakes on my skin. Now that I have found better products to put underneath, such as my moisturiser, my products stick a lot better. But I only discovered this last week. So the only product I could use in February that didn’t make me look dry and emphasized the dry skin was the Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow tinted moisturiser. It doesn’t give you the best or most amazing coverage so if you’re extremely conscious about it, then I would say it’s best to avoid this product. I reached the point where I didn’t care as much about people seeing my acne anymore. I had other things on my mind and just needed a quick tint to make myself look a bit more alive. This did the trick for me and I will definitely continue to use this now that my breakouts are pretty much all gone because of the Accutane.

Cerave Moisturizing Lotion

Since my skin is so extremely parched I need to moisturise everything regularly. I need something that keeps my skin hydrated and moisturised throughout the day so I don’t get any cuts or my legs don’t feel like sandpaper. I love moisturisers for both my face and body, but all the ones I previously owned contained fragrance or other ingredients that could be irritating to my, now, extremely sensitive skin. So I did some research online and found lots of dermatologists and Accutane users recommending the Cerave products while you’re on this prescription as it doesn’t contain fragrance. It only contains ingredients your skin properly needs and it adds products, such as ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to hydrate your skin and the skin barrier. I started using this back in January before I went to the dermatologist to see if my skin would get on with this. We’re now in March and my skin reacts really well to the Cerave Moisturizing Lotion. If you’re after a really good, simple but effective moisturiser that doesn’t break the bank, then, in my opinion this one is pretty good to have around.

Grey Primark cardigan

Finally I wanted to share another piece of clothing with you that I have loved wearing so much. If I was not wearing my jumper from & Other Stories, I was wearing this grey cardigan from Primark. It’s another one of those pieces that is super cosy and comfortable to wear during the week and in the weekends. It’s one of those items I know I will still be wearing in spring as well, as it is the perfect layering piece to have. It’s one of those pieces that basically looks good with every outfit for winter, but I am already looking forward to layer this with cute dresses and midi skirts for spring.
