HOW I STYLE A MIDI SKIRT

Who even is this girl wearing that midi skirt? If you would have told me a year ago that I would have fallen in love with wearing midi skirts, I probably would have laughed at you in your face. 2019 is the year I have fallen in love with wearing midi skirts. As someone who is definitely more of a trousers/jeans-kinda-gal, I thought it would be fun to dedicate a complete post to how I style midi skirts. I’m really hoping this post might inspire to get out of your style comfort zone and try something different too . Because if I can get out of it, you can too!

Basic, but with a twist

As you might know I am a major lover of basics and simple tees. On the other hand I also love wearing graphic tees. Which is why the first look I am sharing, is with a graphic tee. I styled this Minus skirt (*gifted) with a band tee I got absolutely ages ago from H&M. I love how this outfit looks a bit tougher. It instantly makes this outfit have a bit of an edge, which I always love. I really love how beautiful and cute this midi skirt is, but if I had worn it with a simple blouse, I think I would have felt a bit too uptight. By styling it down with this graphic tee, it honestly feels like a ‘me’ outfit.

Edgy chic

The next outfit is continuing to dress down/toughen up a midi skirt. Midi skirts can be seen as classic office pieces. As much as I like to think that I am a girlboss who wears pantsuits or pencil skirts with a shirt, I am actually not. I feel much more comfortable in an outfit that is a bit more casual and has a bit of an edge. This second outfit is definitely a bit more out of my comfort zone, because it has a print! It’s why I decided to style this with super easy and basic items, like my black NA-KD tee and this denim jacket. To make it a bit tougher I paired it with a pair of combat boots from New Look. I love this look, as this is such a ‘me’ outfit. It’s the kind of outfit I saw some of my favourite bloggers and Instagrammers wearing last year and I never thought I could pull of. A year later I have found the confidence to actually wear this sort of outfit out.

Classy meeting outfit

Now if I want to feel particularly powerful or like I have my life together, this is the sort of outfit I would wear. The last way I styled a midi skirt is just a very classy way to do so. I styled a black midi skirt from New Look with a basic tee from & Other Stories. Throw on a trench coat and you look like you have your sh*t together. But I feel like I always look like I have my life together when wearing a trench coat, so maybe that’s just the look I like to go for. Obviously I cannot go to classy with my outfit, which is why I styled this with a pair of chunky trainers from Adidas. I love how these trainers instantly make this super classy; businesswomen like outfit look more casual. This is the perfect outfit for me to wear if I have any meetings or if I just feel like I want to look a bit more professional for work or uni.
