ESSENTIALS | MY HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS

I am leaving for my holiday in less than a month and with my holiday excitement usually comes a lot of planning ahead. Every year I try and make a list of things I want to bring with me that holiday and usually the things written in these post come out first on the list. I did a post like this one last year as well so if you're interested in that you can check it out here. I am pretty sure I'll leave my packing until the last minute, but at least I have an idea of things I want to bring with me. Let's hop right into this post.

A bikini
Where would you be without a bikini on holiday, right? I was lucky enough to receive this gorgeous Triangl Ollie - Penny Wanderlust bikini in October last year and was so flippin' excited throughout the whole year to start using it this summer. Naturally this was the first thing that popped into my mind when I was writing down this list. Bikini's are always an essential when you are on a relax vacation in the sun. My bikini happens to be from Triangl, but I also own a dupe like this from Forever 21 and I've seen lots of dupes on website such as H&M too! I also own lots of other bikinis which are from H&M and Primark.

SPF
SPF is a necessity when you're on holiday. I put SPF on my face all year around and tend to put it on several times a day during holidays. One of the many (good!) lessons I have learned from my mum is that it is very important to put SPF on.
The other day I saw a comment on someone's instagram saying that they don't need sunscreen because they were allergic for sunscreen and another comment saying that they don't burn anyway! While reading that I really started cringing. The sun is very damaging for you skin, even if you don't burn! So please always use SPF for you own safety when you're away on holiday or at the beach! I currently use the Bioderma Photoderm AKN Mat 30 on my face, which is perfect because it doesn't leave my face looking like a shiny disco ball like some sunscreens can do. For my body I am currently using this Paula's Choice Suncare Extracare non-greasy sunscreen, which I got as a freebie. I usually use brands Hawaiian Tropic, Piz Buin, Garnier or Nivea.

Texturising spray
Texturising spray might not be everyone's essential, but it sure is my essential. I love using this Sea Salt Texturising spray from Toni & Guy all year around, but especially during the holiday season. I'm not a big lover of swimming in the sea but I also want that beachy-look hair. This is perfect for that! I wouldn't say it is a necessity, because you could just achieve this look by going to the beach and going for a swim in the sea.

Water
Water is very important, throughout the whole year, but especially during summer and I love drinking  ice cold Fiji Water. Now I wouldn't say that it's an essential to drink Fiji water, any water would do. I am a big lover of drinking water and it's basically all I drink besides like bubble tea and ice tea. When I start getting sick of drinking "just" water, I usually add lemons, a bit of mint or some berries to give my water a bit more of a flavour. Which is a good tip if you don't like drinking water, but would like to drink water!

Sunnies
What did you expect? Sunnies are my essentials throughout the whole year and especially during my holidays. I have very sensitive eyes, so I love putting my sunnies on. Pictured are the Quay Australia My Girl sunnies. They're currently out of stock but a cheeky instagram bird post told me that Quay will be restocking them soon! If you're on the hunt for a pair of these My Girl sunnies; keep up to date with them on instagram. I found the brown pair on Urban Outfitters that's still in stock. The My Girl sunnies by Quay Australia are going to be glued to my face this year!

Magazines
I love reading magazines and getting inspiration from them. Holidays seem to be the best way to go through lots of magazines to read and to get inspired. I love reading British Vogue, Porter Magazine and Vogue NL. The Dutch Vogue, or Vogue NL, however you would like to call it just brought out their second edition of Vogue The Book the Iconic issue, which is covered in beautiful images that will inspire me all summer long. I'm sure you will be seeing lots of images out of this book throughout this summer on my instagram.

Books
Here's a secret, I'm a big book wurm. I love reading books and I am currently finishing 1984 by George Orwell. I always seem to read books like there's no tomorrow during summer so I decided that books are very high on my holiday essential list. Books I am planning on reading this summer are: Girlboss, The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl and To Kill a Mockingbird, which is veeery long overdue. If you have any other books that you think I should read pleeease let me know! I want new books to read! Gah, I sound like such a geek!!

So these are my essentials for when I'm off on holiday! I hope you liked this post! Are you going away this summer? Oh and do you have new books for me that I must read this summer?

  2. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower is one of favourite books! It's brilliant and To Kill A Mockingbird is good too.
